To make the most out of the online format, SRN2021 works in a slightly different way compared to a regular IRL conference: that is, activities are not limited to scheduled ‘live’ sessions but also include pre-recorded paper presentations and and further events in the weeks following the “live” dates. Therefore, we invite all delegates to plan their engagement with SRN2021 timely — in short, please do your homework and make your contribution!
PRE-RECORDED PAPER PRESENTATIONS (available on website from late July 2021)
Papers are submitted as pre-recorded 15-minute video presentations available via this website. These will be uploaded on a regular basis as of late July and for the forthcoming weeks as they become available.
Delegates are encouraged to visit the website and watch as many as possible in the lead-up to the live sessions so as to enable lively discussions during the relevant panels.
LIVE PANELS (via Zoom, 31 Aug-17 Sep)
Bookmark the following dates on your calendar:
Tuesday 31 August
Friday 3 September
Wednesday 8 September
Monday 13 September
Friday 17 September
These will include:
All our Q&A panels (3-4 papers each): generally, one-hour slots, starting on the hour. Speakers will kick off by giving a 3-minute abstract of their respective pre-recorded paper presentations each, to then open up to the “virtual” floor for 35-40’ Q&As. Panels will normally end 10 minutes to the hour to allow for a short break before the next one begins.
Keynotes, AGMs (including EC Elections), Round Table, SRN Awards: 75-90 mins
Working groups, networking, project pitching.
Happy hours: at the end of many live sessions attendees will be able to stay online for one more hour of networking, informal chatting, etc.
You will find the FULL SCHEDULE by accessing the Live Panels section (click below). And remember: if you cannot attend or miss a panel, all sessions will be recorded and posted on the website.
AFTERPARTY (Autumn 2021 and beyond)
SRN2021 does not end with the last live panel sessions on 17 September. Here is a taster of what we are working hard on planning for the forthcoming months.
- Bonus content: one-off events (e.g. talks, webinars, etc.) with special guests
- A new episode of “SRN in Conversation with…” past conference organizers
- ECR2021, the Online Symposium for Screenwriting/Screenplay Early Career Researchers, organized by Ann Igelström. The symposium will take in the week commencing 15 November 2021. The deadline for submitting proposals is 10 August 2021 and you can find the Call for Papers and all the relevant details HERE
Finally, all SRN2021 materials – namely, the pre-recorded paper presentations, abstracts, speakers’ bios and contact details, recordings of the live panels, search tools – will remain available on the website until July 2023 to allow further consultation by registered members even after the end of SRN2021 to facilitate networking and foster potential collaborations.
